12/09/2013 - 10h00
Premier Vice-PresidentCCI Paris Ile-de-France
Dear President of CCPIT Beijing,
Dear Deputy Mayor of Beijing,
Dear Presidents and Directors,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to say a few words on the opening of this conference.
MrPierre-Antoine GAILLY, President of the Paris Region Chamber of commerce and industry, wishes he had been here with us today, but unfortunately, our General Assembly is being held at the same time in Paris, so he asked me to represent him today.
I knowhe would share my thoughts that this event is an exceptional opportunity for distinguished colleagues from all over the world to exchangeon our various practices and achievements.
As always, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade shows its impressive ability to launch initiatives aiming at improving the competitiveness of companies, both at the national and at the international level, as well as strengthening links amongprofessional organizations.
Moreover, I am very pleased to participate in this new “Beijing International Conference of Friendly Chambers of Commerce” because itis the first time that this great event, which occurs every two years, highlights one country in particular and putsit forward asa guest of honor. France is the first country to be chosen by the CCPIT Beijing, whichkindly invited the Paris Region CCI to be its partner for this event.
Let me tell you a few words about the Paris Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Since its foundation by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1803, the former Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry has grownsignificantly and, as of this year, it became a Regional institution which is now called the CCI Paris Ile-de-France (Ile de France being the Region of Paris)
The Paris Region CCI is the largest CCI in France and in Europe. It employs5 000 staff members and represents 850 000 companies (30% of France GNP) providing them with an extended range of services at each stage of their life cycle: from thecreation to its hand over to another owner or company.
Thanks to the size of our institution, we are able to provide companies with a strong support and greater visibility. Moreover, thanks to our local network, (with 8 “on the ground” Chambers) we maintain our goal of being physically near the companies. It is important for us to maintain such proximity with our clients, so we can advise them and provide them with the best service at a local level as well.
This afternoon I will have the opportunity to present the Paris Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry in more details, and will then take the time to go over thetasksof our international department.
We will also have the chance todiscuss and debateduring two Round Tables:
- the first one on urbansustainable development and Environmental protection
- The second one on the quality standards of European and French products, as well ason French brandingand fashion trends in the Chinese luxury sector.
One more time, I would like to thank the CCPIT Beijing for giving us this unique opportunity toshare our point of views on such exiting topics with our distinguished colleagues from around the world. I wish this conference all the success it deserves!
