The 4th Beijing international Conference of Friendly Chambers of Commerce(BICCC)

Beijing convened the third Beijing International Conference of Friendly Chambers of Commerce (BICCC) from May 10 to 13, 2015, attended and addressed by Rona Yircali, Honorary Chair of ICC World Chambers Federation, CCPIT/CCOIC vicechair Lu Pengqi, then deputy mayor and Honorary Chair of BCIC Cheng Hong. Conferees included the ambassador of the Comoros to China MohammedAboud, the ambassador of the Republic of the Fiji Islands loaneNaivalurua, foreign diplomatic envoys and business officials and heads of overseas chambers – including the World Trade Centers Association, the CCI Paris Ile-de-France, Moscow Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo, Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and the Imperative Fund (Argentina)– from 57 countries and regions, as well as officials from Beijing municipal government and from provincial-level government bodies for the promotion of trade, and representatives of Chinese and foreign firms, more than 300 in total.

In the spirit of the Beijing Consensus on Cooperation signed in 2011 when the conference was first launched, the third edition of the conference was themed on “cooperation, development, and mutual benefits”. It took on forms such as dialogues, roundtable meetings, promotion, on-site presentation, inspection and exchange and created a platform for chambers and businesses at home and abroad to integrate resources, launchcooperation and exchange ideas on the current global economic landscape, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy in China.

The conference bore the following three fruits.

  1. The intent to set up the BICCC Secretariat at CCPIT Beijing was reached;
  2. The support from Rona Yircali, Honorary Chair of ICC World Chambers Federation, was secured for Beijing to bid for the hosting of the World Chambers Congress.
  3. The cooperation agreement was inked with four more chambers, namely, the Strategic Development Foundation (Argentina), the Lithuania-China Business Council, New Zealand-China International Trade Association and the Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Macau.
